Good explanations, horrible answers

I have previously taken 4 years worth of Latin classes. With that in mind, I would say that this volume's a good revision, especially considering that it is an exercise book and not a textbook. I can't think off the top of my head any Latin exercise books save "For Dummies" and "Demystified". I've used both and they're not as numerous in terms of exercises, and if you're doing revision, not learning, then what you need is practice, not explanations. Some may get frustrated with the declension/conjugation order. There are minor errors in the explanation part. That's okay, it can easily be checked online or with any textbook.
With that said, the bad thing about this revision is that the exercises are horrendously erroneous when it comes to the answers in the back... so every time you catch an error, you have to double-check to see if it's you or the author who has made a mistake. Now to come and think of it, you may have to do that for every RIGHT answer, just to check if you're right and hence your answer coincides with the author, or if the author and you made the same mistake. It's a little annoying. There's also a mistake for the first declension nominative plural that made me pull out three other Latin textbooks just to check.
Unfortunately, this isn't Spanish, so you really have a limited selection of revision texts. Out of the ones floating out there and readily available that doesn't have to do with missals or breviaries, this probably is the best... out of approximately five, mind you. I suppose this is all due to just how many Latin students are out there today. But still, if McGraw-Hill is this sloppy with one text, it makes me wonder just what other errors I'd be seeing in the other books.
If you're going to buy this, MAKE SURE YOU KNOW WHAT YOU'RE DOING.

A great supplementary text

I like this text. It uses the same order of cases as I use in some of my other grammars, namely, nominative, genitive, dative, accusative and ablative. It makes mention of the vocative case but doesn't include it everywhere to hinder our learning and memorisation. Why is case ordering so important? I believe our memories adapt to things we see. I don't think we should even LOOK at a declension with the nouns going in a different order to that which we're used to. Writing this reminds me of those police line-up cases in which the victim of crime begins to think that someone innocent in the line-up is the person who committed the crime, simply because our memories graft new input onto old experiences.
The other grammars I'd use this in association with are Moreland & Fleischer's Latin: An Intensive Course and John F. Collins' Primer of Ecclesiastical Latin.
A lot of drills, vocab and especially grammatical information have been condensed into a handy, readable volume.
As for errors, as mentioned by "a reader" subsequent reviewer, it would have actually been a "helpful review" if s/he'd actually told us exactly where the errors were.
Thoroughly recommended alongside your other Latin grammar (if you use the same case ordering).

Riddled with errors

Like other Schaum's Outlines books, this one contains hundreds of exercises that offer the reader continuous practice. However, in this case it is obvious that the editors failed to check the exercises and answers before publication. I made it to exercise 11 in chapter 1, where I hit the fourth error. In this case the answer key has a declension for a different noun than the one in the main text! As an unreliable answer key is fatal for self-study - particularly in an introductory text - I discarded this book and started reading another. Latin is difficult enough as it is: Slapdash editing is simply unacceptable.
A corrected version of this text might well be worthwhile for Latin students, but I strongly recommend against the purchase of this book until the book details clearly state that it is "corrected" or "revised". Schaum's Outlines ought to recall and destroy their stock immediately and reprint the book with corrections.
