Good, but definitely biased!

This is required reading for the history of TC nursing. It does a good job at informing the reader of the birth of modern TC nursing as described by the self-titled expert, M. Leininger. However...it descends into a narcissistic love-fest, and quite frankly gets a bit much to take.
The sections on individual cultures are well done, and the inclusion of the Sunrise Model is helpful.

This book was written by a true pioneer in the field of nursing across cultures. Madeleine Leininger not only recognized the challenges nurses faced working with people from different cultures, but also intuitively knew she needed to explore how to bridge the gaps in communication and understanding across cultures. I found her research profound and her findings brilliantly simple, to know something about the people being treated and continue to learn from them. I believe every nursing program in every school should require this text.
Leininger's work has both enlightened and enhanced my Masters research on continuing education for healthcare workers, as the evolution of culture change in the field transpires.
